Add Color:
-*K4 with main color, k1 with second color*, repeat from *to* until the end of row.
(Tip: Do not squeeze your stitches from right head when knitting with second color, you need space to carry the color on the back of the project. Otherwise when you put your hat on the stitches will look stretched)

-Knit 4 rows.

-K1 with main color, k1 with second color, *k4 with main color, k1 second color*, repeat from *to* until the end of row, end with k3.

-Knit 4 rows

-K3 main color, k1 second color, *k4 main color, k1 second color*, repeat from *to* until the end of row, end with k1.

-Knit 4 rows

-K1 second color, k4 main color, *k1 second color, k4 main color*, repeat from *to* until the end of row, end with k4.

-Knit 1 row

Decreasing section:
-Main color K4, k2tog, *k4, k2tog*, repeat from *to* until the end of row, end with k1

-Knit 1 row main color.

-Main color K4, k2tog, *k4, k2tog* repeat from *to* until the end of row, end with k1

-(add color) K2 main color, k1 second color, *k2 main color, k1 second color, k3 main color, k1 second color*, repeat until the end of row, end with k1. Cut the second color leaving a long tail, you don’t have to use it anymore.

-Knit 1 row main color.

-Main color *K2tog, k1*, repeat from *to* until the end of row.

- Main color *K2tog, k1*, repeat from *to* until the end of row.

-Main color k2tog until the end of row.

-Cut the main color leaving a tail, thread your tapestry needle with that piece of yarn and go through all the stitches (starting on the stich next to the one you finish). Once you have all the stitches on the piece of yarn pull hard to close the opening at the top of the hat.

Final Touch:

Make a fluffy Pom Pom and place it at the top of the hat. If you need help learning how to make a pom pom, please click on the link below for tutorial.

  3. Hi Amber,

In the picture the hat looks small, but it is actually for an adult.

  5. Hi Amber

I'm using worsted weight yarn and double stranding the yarn. I only have a US 11 needle.
How many would I need to cast on? Would your pattern still work with one needle size to fit adult hat?

Thank you for your video and pattern. It's beautiful too with your yarn.

  6. Hi there!

Do you know how I would alter this pattern to make a hat for a 2 year old? I made one for myself and would love to make a matching one for my daughter but I'm a beginner and not sure how to make it smaller.
